Resumen:
 La rotura de una cabeza femoral de cerámica en una artroplastia total de cadera es una complicación excepcional y que en la literatura se ha descrito en los primeros años tras la implantación de la prótesis y sobre todo en pares de fricción cerámica-cerámica. Se presenta un inusual caso de rotura de una cabeza de cerámica a los 11 años de haber sido implantada, en un par de fricción cerámica-polietileno, y ante un traumatismo mínimo.
Summary:
 Fracture of the ceramic femoral head in total hip replacement is a complication that has been reported in the short-term follow-up of ceramic-on-ceramic bearing surfaces. We report an unusual case of femoral head fracture in a ceramic-on-polyethylene total hip prosthesis with a follow-up of 11 years.
