Las fracturas de calcáneo suponen un reto para el cirujano ortopédico. La mayoría de éstas son fracturas intraarticulares con trazos complejos que afectan en mayor medida a población joven en edad laboral. El tratamiento sigue siendo controvertido y, las continuas mejoras tecnológicas y científicas han convertido al manejo quirúrgico como el tratamiento de elección en un porcentaje alto de las mismas. Se pretende con este artículo de actualización abordar puntos clave en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de estas fracturas, así como, profundizar en las complicaciones y puntos de controversia de las mismas. |
Summary: |
Calcaneal fractures are a challenge for the orthopedic surgeon. Most of these are intra-articular fractures with complex lines that affect young population of working age. The treatment remains controversial and the continuous technological and scientific improvements have made surgical management the treatment of choice in a high percentage of them. The aim of this update article is to address key points in the diagnosis and treatment of these fractures, as well as understand the complications and points of controversy. |
