Se revisa la literatura sobre el osteoma osteoide, aportando el estudio de 14 casos operados y estudiados anatomopatológicamente durante el período 1970-75 en la Clínica Quirúrgica Universitaria de la Facultad de Medicina de Valencia. Se estudian clínica y radiológicamente, insistiendo sobre las posibilidades de e,rror o retraso en el diagnóstico. El estudio anatomopatológico evidenció la presencia de fibras nerviosas amielínicas en el interior del tumor, por lo que se cree que la patogenia del dolor en el osteoma osteoide se debe a la irritación de estas fibras nerviosas existentes en el «nidus» ante los cambios de presión vascular intratumoral de origen reflejo, o bien por la irritación de las mismas por su vecindad o inclusión en focos de calcificación. |
Summary: |
Fourteen cases of Osteoid Osteoma have collected in the Faculty of Medicine of Valencia during the period of 1970/75. All tumors were removed and their clínical and radiological diagnosis were confirmed by the histological findings. We emphasize the possibility of a delayed diagnosis. The histology showed amyelinic nervous fibers near the nidus of the tumor. The pain would be due to irritation of these nervous fibers in relation to the changes of intratumoral pressure or to their inclusion in the calcification focus itself. |
