Resumen:
 La artrodesis segmentaria de la columna lumbar produce una limitación de la movilidad en el disco superior e inferior. En el grupo artrodesado quirúrgicamente el tanto por ciento de pseudoartrosis fue de 12 por 100 de los enfermos y 10 por 100 de los segmentos.
En nueve enfermos (14 por 1OO) fue necesario extender la artrodesis hacia abajo y en dos enfermos (3 por 100) hacia arriba.
Se sugiere que antes de realizar este tipo de artrodesis el disco superior e inferior debe estudiarse con radiografías en tlexión y extensión con discografías.
Summary:
 Segmental fusion of the lumbar spine, produce a reduction of motion on the disc above and below. In the surgical group, the rate of pseudoarthrosis was 12 % of patients and 10 % of segments. Extension of fusion down was required in nine patient (14 por 100), and
up, in two patients (3 por 100). It is suggested that previous to this type of fusion the disc above and below should be assesed by flexion-extension x-rays and by discogram.
