Resumen: |
El envejecimiento del material tiene importancia en el comportamiento a largo plazo del cemento de polimetilmetacrilato (PMMA). Se presenta un método de evaluar dicho envejecimiento mediante la calorimetría diferencial de barrido, así como los resultados obtenidos con esta técnica en un modelo experimental y en material procedente de artroplastias fallidas. El envejecimiento del PMMA es casi nulo en las primeras semanas y pequeño al cabo de varios años. |

Aging of materials is an important factor in the long term behaviour of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bone cementoA new method for evaluating the aging of this material by diferential scanning calorimetry is presented as well as results of measures made on an animal model and using material removed from falled artbroplasties. PMMA aging is nearJy inexistent in tbe first weeks and Iittle after some years. |
