Resumen:
Se realiza un estudio epidemiológico de 306 pacientes con fractura diafisaria de fémur que hemos atendido entre 1977 y 1986, refiriendo en los resultados finales únicamente los 228 casos en que se hizo un seguimiento completo. Los accidentes de tráfico han sido la principal causa de lesión, 76'8%, siendo la mayor incidencia en los varones de 15-25 años. Las fracturas abiertas supusieron el 14'7% Y únicamente hubo un 3'7% de afectaciones vasculoncrviosas. Se efectuó tratamiento quirúrgico en el 70% de los casos, tratamiento incruento en 20'5% y en el 9' 5% restante no se realizó ningún tratamiento defimilivo por trasladarse a otro centro. Enlos enclavados endomedulares se permite el apoyo a los 32'3 días yen las osteosíntesis con placas a los 82'3 días. El 58'8% de los pacientes curaron dcfinitivamente entre 6-8 meses. El resultado global atendiendo a los criterios de DENKER-CONNOLLy fue bueno en el 85'9%, regular en el 11'8% Ymalo en el 1'3%. Palabras clave: Fracturas diafisarias de fémur. Estadística.  
Summary:
An epldemlologlc analysis ls made of306 patlents with diaphysial femur fractures attended between 1977 and 1986, and the authors have refered In the final results only to the 228 cases wlth a complete contlnuatlon. Trafllc accldents have been the principal cause of injury (76'8%), and the greatest incldence was In men of 15-25 years. Open fractures acconted for 14'7%, and there was only 3'7% ofneurovascular troubles. Surglcal treatment was carrlcd out In 70% of the cases, bloodlcss treatment In 20'5%, and in the remalning (9'5 %) no definitive treatrnent was made because they were moved the other hospltals. In endomedullar pinnings support is permltted 32'3 days after operatlng, and In ostheosyntesis with plates 82'3 days after. 58'8% of the patlents were cured definltlvely between 6 and 8 months añer. The complete result followlng the crlterlons ofDENKER and CONNOLLY was good In  85'9%, regular In 11'8%, and bad In 1'3%.
